A Practical Tool for Building an Inclusive Workplace
Diversity and inclusion are crucial drivers of success and vital steps towards creating more inclusive workplaces. Companies that embrace gender equality and disability inclusion can foster innovation, boost productivity, and enhance employee engagement. Meanwhile, persons with disabilities – especially women – remain underrepresented in the labour market and continue to face various structural inequalities across different sectors.
So, How Can Companies Foster More Equitable and Inclusive Workplaces?
Across ten structured modules, learners will be able to:
To address this question, GIZ recently launched an e-learning course on Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion in the Private Sector. The course introduces key concepts and shows how these can be translated into concrete action within the sectors of textiles, extractives, supply chains, and agriculture.
The self-paced course is fully accessible and available in English on the atingi e-learning platform (German and French versions will follow soon). It consists of 10 modules, including interactive components and flexible learning formats. Practical tips, real-life examples, most relevant frameworks, and access to a toolbox with specific checklists and resources complement the course content and support the implementation of inclusive practices in everyday business contexts.
The course is designed for professionals from various sectors of the private sector, including those in leadership and management roles, diversity managers and anyone else who wishes to promote gender equality and disability inclusion in their daily work.
As part of the pilot phase, the course has already been tested in Pakistan’s textile sector, and initial results show that it is already bearing fruit. From the two workshops that took place, one has already resulted in organisational change, with the company integrating the course as a mandatory component of its HR processes for senior managers. It was also presented at the Zero Conference 2026 in Vienna: #ZeroCon26 Creating Jobs for Persons with Disabilities in the Industry Sector.
